PLIDA Upper Intermediate Italian Class B2.2 (online)
with Rosemarye Grasso
This upper-intermediate course is intended for students who have completed Italian B2.1 or possess an equivalent level of proficiency. It aims to further strengthen linguistic and communicative skills, preparing students for more sophisticated and structured interactions in Italian. The course offers an in-depth exploration of the thematic areas introduced in PLIDA B2.1—such as society, history, geography, and art—while fostering continued development in the four language skills (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Cultural discussions and materials will deepen students’ understanding of key aspects of contemporary Italy.
Students will learn to express emotions, describe themselves and others both physically and in terms of personality, and engage in conversations that involve expressing preferences, opinions, and irony. Through discussions on film and visual culture, students will practice summarizing plots, reviewing and critiquing movies, and identifying cinematic genres. They will also develop the skills to conduct interviews, narrate with attention to detail, describe images effectively, and structure their speech coherently—from introduction to conclusion—while expressing agreement, disagreement, or softening previous statements.
