PLIDA Beginner Italian Class A1.3 (In-Person)
with Lucia Campo

This course completes level A1 of language proficiency and continues to emphasize the improvement of oral comprehension, writing, reading and oral communication. The course covers various aspects of communication and interaction in Italian, such as going shopping, buying groceries, and asking politely for what they need, describing stores, talking about their work, a typical workday, and their daily routine, describing and talking about their family. In addition to language skills, the course also focuses on Italian culture.

PLIDA Elementary Italian Class A2.2 (In-Person)
with Marco D'Angelo

This course builds on students’ mastery of verb tenses, vocabulary, and communicative functions at the elementary level, while also placing a strong emphasis on Italian culture alongside language instruction. Students will learn to discuss vacations in present and past tenses, inquire about information and prices, and react to situations. They will also talk about food preferences, grocery shopping, giving suggestions, and expressing opinions. Furthermore, the course includes discussions on health, reporting and describing symptoms, offering advice, and talking about one's relationship with sports.

PLIDA Intermediate Italian Class B2.1 (In-Person)
with Maria Conte

This upper-intermediate course marks the beginning of B2-level language proficiency and is designed for students who have completed Italian B1.3 or possess an equivalent level. While deepening students’ linguistic competence, the course further develops reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills through engagement with rich cultural content, fostering a more nuanced understanding of key aspects of contemporary Italy.
Students will learn to narrate events, recall school memories, and describe people and places from their educational background. They will practice expressing opinions, emotions, and reacting critically in conversations. The course includes discussing food preferences, describing dishes, and explaining basic cooking procedures. Students will also report information, interpret statistics, and place events in historical context. Finally, they will strengthen their ability to talk about their profession, make formal requests, and exchange work-related advice.
