PLIDA Intermediate Italian Class B1.1 (Online)

PLIDA B1.1 is the first part of the intermediate-level Italian course, designed for students who have successfully completed the A2 level. Aligned with the PLIDA certification framework, this course helps learners begin to express themselves more clearly and independently in everyday and familiar contexts. Students will work on describing personal experiences, discussing plans, giving opinions, and understanding the main points of clear speech and texts. The course strengthens grammar, expands vocabulary, and builds confidence in all four language skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—laying the foundation for full B1-level proficiency.

PLIDA Beginner Italian Class A1.1 (Online)

This beginner-level course is designed for students with little or no prior knowledge of Italian. It focuses on developing basic communication skills in everyday situations, such as greetings, introductions, asking simple questions, and talking about daily routines. The course follows the PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) framework. Emphasis is placed on speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while introducing essential grammar and vocabulary to build a strong foundation in the Italian language.

PLIDA Beginner Conversation Course A1.2 (In-Person)

This conversation course is the first of two terms designed for beginner students who wish to improve both the fluency and accuracy of their spoken Italian. It is intended for learners who have completed PLIDA Beginner A1.1 or have acquired an equivalent level of proficiency through informal study. The course may be taken on its own or alongside PLIDA Beginner A1.2 to further expand vocabulary and strengthen communication skills. Through interactive activities, role-plays, and cultural discussions, students will practice everyday expressions and gain greater confidence in real-life conversations, all while discovering key aspects of Italian life and culture.

PLIDA Beginner Italian Class A1.1 (In-Person)

In this introductory course, students will learn fundamental phonetic, grammatical, and lexical structures through conversations and simple dialogues. This course teaches students to greet formally and informally, introduce themselves, share and request contact information, discuss their age and feelings, and communicate in a classroom setting. They will learn to start conversations, introduce others, apologize, thank people, make reservations, order food, and ask for the bill. Additionally, students will discuss hobbies, likes and dislikes, express agreement and disagreement, count to 100, and ask and answer questions about the time.

This course continues to develop the ability to communicate effectively in a variety of everyday and semi-formal situations. Learners will practice discussing current events, expressing opinions and emotions, handling simple work or travel-related tasks, and understanding the main ideas of written and spoken texts. Emphasis is placed on improving fluency, refining grammar, and expanding vocabulary. 

PLIDA Intermediate Italian Class B1.3 (In-Person)

This course completes level B1 of language proficiency and is for students who have completed Italian B1.2 or have an equivalent level. It refines language skills, expands vocabulary, and deepens comprehension of written and spoken Italian while exploring cultural perspectives. Students will practice narrating events, expressing incredulity, asking indirect questions, and seeking or providing information. The course also covers reporting speech, highlighting places, expressing disagreement or disappointment, using irony, and moderating discussions. Additionally, it includes making past hypotheses and reflecting on language learning.
