PLIDA Beginner Italian Class A1.1 (In-Person)

Calendar Jan 14, 2025 at 5 pm, runs for 10 weeks

In this introductory course, students will learn fundamental phonetic, grammatical, and lexical structures through conversations and simple dialogues. This course teaches students to greet formally and informally, introduce themselves, share and request contact information, discuss their age and feelings, and communicate in a classroom setting. They will learn to start conversations, introduce others, apologize, thank people, make reservations, order food, and ask for the bill. Additionally, students will discuss hobbies, likes and dislikes, express agreement and disagreement, count to 100, and ask and answer questions about the time.

Building upon the foundation provided by level 101, students in this course will further develop their linguistic competency in comprehension, writing, reading and oral communication. The course covers various aspects of communication and interaction in Italian, such as describing a house, daily life, talking about the weather, discussing your weekend and vacation. In addition to language skills, the course also focuses on Italian culture.

PLIDA Elementary Italian Class A2.3 (In-Person)

This course completes level A2 of language proficiency and continues to emphasize the improvement of oral comprehension, writing, reading and oral communication. The course covers various aspects of communication and interaction in Italian, such as discussing the future, expressing intentions and desires, writing job applications, making assumptions and conditions, discussing work and working conditions, storytelling, expressing curiosity and disappointment, describing situations, expressing needs and desires, presenting arguments, and making comparisons. In addition to language skills, the course also focuses on Italian culture.

PLIDA Intermediate Italian Class B1.1 (In-Person)

This B1 intermediate course is for students with prior knowledge of Italian. Students will review and strengthen their language skills, expand their vocabulary, and improve their comprehension of written and spoken Italian. They will also deepen their understanding of Italian culture and perspectives. The course focuses on exchanging information accurately and confidently about events, dreams, and hopes, and explaining opinions and plans. Additionally, students will learn to handle various situations while traveling in Italy.

This course thoroughly covers essential grammar and vocabulary, while also practicing speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills. In addition to language instruction, it emphasizes Italian culture. Students will learn to discuss vacations in present and past tenses, inquire about information and prices, and react to situations. They will also talk about food preferences, grocery shopping, giving suggestions, and expressing opinions. Furthermore, the course includes discussions on health, reporting and describing symptoms, offering advice, and talking about one's relationship with sports.

Calendar Jan 15, 2025 at 5 pm, runs for 10 weeks

This conversation course is designed for beginner students who want to enhance both their fluency and the quality of their spoken Italian. Students must have completed PLIDA Beginner A1.1 or have informally acquired a similar level of proficiency. The course can be taken independently or alongside PLIDA Beginner A1.2 and A1.3 to further expand vocabulary and communication skills. Throughout the course, learners will practice common expressions and build confidence in daily conversations while exploring Italian culture.
